The place is called <span class=\"redbold\">Death Valley<\/span> and is the nation&#8217;s largest national park.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve visited Death Valley many times before. It sits some 280 feet below sea level.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"gallery\">\n    <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00518.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n      <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00518s.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"200\"><br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"desc\">Badwater is a salt flat that spans the width of the valley. It&#8217;s basically a dried sea bed from millions of years ago.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!\/div><br \/>\n<!p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!div class=\"photos\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"gallery\">\n    <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00517.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00517s.jpg\"><br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"desc\">Here&#8217;s a closeup of the terrain at Badwater. Normally the entire basin is covered with  salt similar to this. You can walk on some of the terrain but other parts are thin and considered dangerous to traverse.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"gallery\">\n    <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00521.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00521s.jpg\"><br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"desc\"><span class=\"redbold\">Something drastic happened this past August<\/span>. Unprecedented torrential rains caused extreme road and terrain damage. The basin was in part turned into &#8220;Lake Manly&#8221;. While only a few inches deep in remains there as of January 2024.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!\/div><\/p>\n<div class=\"gallery2\">\n <a href=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/IMG_9559.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/IMG_9559s.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"desc\">As you can see here, many visitors trekked to Death Valley to view the lake in the Badwater basin<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!div><\/p>\n<div class=\"gallery\">\n    <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00532.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00532s.jpg\"><br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"desc\">As I was driving I couldn&#8217;t help but spot large patches of yellow off to the side of the road.<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"gallery\">\n    <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00535.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arnielee.com\/wordpress\/images\/dv2024\/DSC00535s.jpg\"><br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"desc\">While these flowers are not one of Death Valley&#8217;s infrequent superblooms, these patches may be a byproduct of last August&#8217;s downpours and flooding. Regardless, these dandelions were a bright spot that stand out against the park&#8217;s vast desert terrain .<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div class=\"photos\">\n<div class=shadowbox>\n    My drive to Death Valley was to see the &#8220;lake&#8221; that was formed by last summer&#8217;s rains.
