Just Up Ahead

I love to travel and my favorite means of travel is by car.

I’ve driven cross country dozens of times from the east coast to the west coast and from the north to the south. I never seem to tire of being on the road.

One of my driving “hobbies” is to record some of the scenery along the way.

As I travel I’m excited to see and learn about how our county operates. These pictures are examples of how the hardworking men and women keep our economy moving.

So when I’m behind the wheel and see all of these semis and trailers ahead of me, I know that they’re all on the way to deliver equipment, goods and supplies to all of the industries which keep out economy running strong.

Ten or so years ago I became involved with the hospitality business as a “second or third or fourth” career.

These days, in addition to my photography hobby, I take pictures of food to help with the promotion of the offerings.

This is a fun, new creative activity for me.

Staying Safe

As this year draws to a close, I’m looking back at those things we did during the Covid pandemic to keep ourselves entertained and yet stay safe.

Thanks to the widespread availability of the remarkable vaccines, often using face masks, adhering to social distancing and staying outdoors in the fresh air we were able to enjoy many of our favorite activities.


During the cold winter, we built an ice rink the the backyard to enjoy the crisp outdoors.

We used igloos at several restaurants to keep our distance from others. And skiing was another way to enjoy the winter.

When the warmer weather arrived the pool became the center of our attention.
One way to practice social distancing was to step into pristine Lake McDonald in Glacier NP.
A long telephoto lens let us drop into the Delicate Arch in Arches NP.
Hiking Fairy Falls Trail let us avoid the crowds at Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone NP
